Push notifications let you send updates directly to a fan’s home screen if they have saved your Fan Pass to their wallet. Use them to share links to Posts, Fan HQ or Landing Pages - or if you have ticket holder data, send set times and show day information directly to fans’ passes.
Send and schedule a push notification
Navigate to Message > Push Notifications. The dashboard shows all previous push notifications, which you can filter by all, scheduled, sent, or cancelled, and search by name.
Click + New Notification to start drafting.
🟡 Please note: You can send 3 Fan Pass push notifications per 24 hours. Google Wallet allows 3 lock-screen alerts per fan per 24 hours, including automations. Additional messages still update the pass but do not appear as a notification.
Write your message
🟢 Top tip: Keep it short - around 120 characters is a good guideline. Some phones show even less in the notification itself. The full message appears in the Pass details.
Personalize your message using merge tags:
Fan first name - always recommended
Fan last name
Membership tier - only relevant when you have more than one tier
⚪ Note: For more details on Membership tiers, see here.
🟡 Please note: Unlike SMS broadcasts, push notifications require the URL to be included within the message copy itself rather than as a separate link field.
Use the preview on the right to see how your notification will appear on Apple and Google Wallet.
Choose your audience
By default, your audience is set to fans who are contactable and have a Fan Pass. You can filter this further using the same audience builder logic you’re used to.
See Audience Builder for more detail.
🟢 Top tip: Set the audience to your own email address to test the push notification before sending. Note that this counts toward your 3-notification daily limit.
Schedule your push notification
When you are ready, use Send now or Schedule to send or queue your notification. Make sure to send at appropriate times for your fans’ time zones.
Automated Push notifications
Fans who have installed your Fan Pass can receive push notifications automatically through the automations flow. Set up an automation using any of the following triggers:
Gets a tag
Answers a poll
Has a birthday
When configuring the automation, select Fan Pass notification as the channel. The default audience is all fans who have installed a Fan Pass - filter this further if you want to target a specific segment.
🟡 Please note: Google Wallet (Android) allows a maximum of 3 lock-screen alerts per fan per 24 hours, including automated push notifications. Additional notifications still update the pass but will not appear as a lock-screen alert.
⚪ Note: Audience filters are checked after the trigger fires, not before. The automation may show more triggers than sends as a result.
